American Heritage Girls – AHG FL-1201
Building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country.
American Heritage Girls, All-Girl Structure + Outdoor Adventure
American Heritage Girls (AHG) was founded by a group of parents wanting a faith-based, scout-type character development program for their daughters in 1995. The AHG Program is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. AHG girls across the nation and the globe participate in badge programs, service projects, leadership opportunities, and outdoor experiences, all with an emphasis on Christian values and family involvement.
American Heritage Girls remains committed to our founding principles of being Christ-centered and girl-centric. Our forward-focused programming is rich in opportunities for girls of all ages and abilities. Six key components, known as the AHG Program Emphases, help to create a well-rounded experience for girls and achieve the mission of building women of integrity. These include Faith, Leadership, Social-Emotional, Outdoors, Citizenship, and Life Skills. With each AHG Program Level, girls are introduced to new skills, experiences (including outdoor adventures) and leadership positions, as well as given opportunities to grow closer to the Lord. Girls who complete the program will be Christ-following servant leaders who are honoring, relational, anchored in Christ, and competent.
Badge Program
The American Heritage Girls Badge Program provides opportunities for girls to interact across age groups, as older girls teach younger girls. Each badge can be earned at three different levels (Tenderheart, Explorer, and Pioneer/Patriot) and is divided into six Frontiers: Heritage, Personal Well-Being, Family Living, Arts, Science & Technology, and Outdoor Skills.
Meetings
Our bi-monthly meetings are held the First and Third Tuesday of each month from 6pm to 7:45pm. We meet together in the Fellowship Hall for an opening flag ceremony with Trail Life, then the boys and girls break off to separate areas for troop and age-specific badge-work.
Service
As a core value of both Trail Life USA and American Heritage Girls, our troops are entirely volunteer-led, and parents are welcome to participate! Parents are encouraged to join as AHG members so they can help further our mission and assure the protection of our youth as part of the two-deep leadership requirement. Just ask our Troop Coordinator or Vice Coordinator for an invitation to join, and a link to complete that process will be emailed to you.
Fees
To cover yearly operation costs, we charge troop dues of $75 annually per youth. This fee helps to cover supply costs, awards, troop chartering/re-chartering fees, a handbook (as needed), and a Class-B T-shirt. Fundraisers (2-3 per year) will help to off-set additional costs associated with troop supplies and activities. American Heritage Girls charges a national membership of $40 per girl and uniform costs range from $30-$60 per girl.
